India U19 played their second match of the World Cup against Bangladesh U19. The off-field political tension between the two nations has been soaring lately, which was quite evident when the two captains did not shake hands at the toss.
India’s 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi lit up Bulawayo with a breathtaking half-century off just 30 balls, even as wickets tumbled regularly at the other end against Bangladesh U19.

Rain caused delays earlier in the day, but play eventually got underway. Bangladesh struck early after winning the toss and opting to bowl. Al Fahad delivered a dream opening spell, removing Indian captain Ayush Mhatre for six runs and Vedant Trivedi for a duck in consecutive deliveries. The pressure mounted further when Vihaan Malhotra, who struggled to rotate the strike, was dismissed for 7 off 24 balls, giving Bangladesh their third wicket inside the powerplay.
Amid the early collapse, Suryavanshi counter-attacked in sensational fashion. The left-hander smashed five fours and three sixes, dominating both pace and spin to bring up his fifty in just 30 balls. His innings single-handedly kept India steady after a shaky start.
Bangladesh’s bowlers, led by Sheikh Parvez Jibon and skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim, applied the brakes effectively with multiple maiden overs, while Kundu has endured a difficult stay at the crease, managing just 2 runs off 24 balls so far.
India began their U19 World Cup 2026 campaign on January 15 with a six-wicket victory over the USA via the DLS method. They will look to build on that momentum in today’s match and secure their second win of the tournament.
For Bangladesh, this is their opening match of the competition, and they will be eager to register a victory to gain early momentum in the group stage.
